PJs and hair

Apparently Maggie couldn't find a pajama shirt so she created one..... I told her that while that was very creative she might get a little hot..... and a regular shirt would work just fine. This girl likes to be properly dressed for the occasion :)
On our recent trip to TN we stayed at a few hotels along the way. After a bath at one of them Matt showed Maggie the hair dryer. It was love at first sight. Now she wants to use it all the time at home :) It's kind of funny that she really had no idea what one was......wait, I think I used it once or twice to speed up the nail polish drying on her nails...... I'm kind of impressed that we even have one. It takes forever to dry my hair - at LEAST 10 minutes - and we all know that I'm not the most patient person when it comes to - well, pretty much anything! Although since Caleb loves to help by holding the hair dryer for the girls maybe he would help me out too :)

Kiddos

Hailey was really proud of the outfit she chose the other day and wanted me to take a picture of her in ballerina mode. I think the skirt prompted that. Caleb, of course, needed to get in on the action too. Hailey doesn't get into clothes too often - but every once in awhile she takes the time to carefully chose something special :)

Princess night

This is another free Chik Fil A activity. Princess night is always pretty crazy. I think this is the 3rd one we have been to. We had had a beautiful week of weather right up to this day. It was raining pretty good but that didn't bother the girls at all as we waited in line for the carriage ride. Hailey's crown was curling up from getting wet. They loved it. There were quite a few kids there from Maggie's class so she loved seeing everyone.  They decorated crowns, had their nails painted and went on the carriage ride. They love to dress up as princesses too.

Kitchen floor

Our kitchen floor used to be all white ceramic tile.... it was cracked in a lot of places and pieces of tile were coming up. We found a good price on some flooring that we liked so we decided that we would go ahead and replace the floor. I have so many partially finished projects and stuff for those projects that I thought I would be good and just get the floor done instead of having a stack of flooring in our garage for months. I should have thought it through a little better since Matt was pretty much unavailable when I did this...... :) Finals week for the class he was teaching was coming up quick. He did have to help me replace moldy subfloor but a friend and I did the rest.  It looks a whole lot better and is holding up to the abuse really well. It's laminate flooring with a tile pattern print. The planks are 16" by 48" so laying it went really fast.

Caleb

This is Caleb on his balance bike. He loves using it because it looks so much like the regular bikes that the big kids use.  He could also use this way earlier than he could pedal a trike. I don't know if it will actually make a difference in how early he can ride a pedal bike but he gets around really well on it. He's getting so big! Guess we should work on getting rid of that pacifier.......

Maggie's monster milestone

This cautious little lady has been nervous about riding a bike without training wheels ..... combined with very little opportunity to ride bikes around here....... means that until just a few weeks ago, she still used training wheels. She was just riding a little in the driveway and I noticed that she was balancing really well and told her that I bet she could go without training wheels. We headed to the school to ride bikes a few days later and within a few minutes she was off and going. I was so proud of her for doing something she was nervous about. She was also really proud of herself :) and wants to ride bikes all the time now. We really need a trailer or bike rack for the car since we have to go somewhere to ride. We can't just do it on the roads by our house because there are too many hills.
